Georgia CapitolThis week, Georgia’s WIN List is partnering with a number of progressive allies – Democratic Party of Georgia, Georgia WAND, AFL-CIO, Democratic Party of Georgia LGBT Caucus, Georgia Equality, Coalition for the People’s Agenda, Concerned Black Clergy, Young Democrats of Georgia, Red Clay Democrats – to speak out for FAIR districts as the special session begins.

The GOP is moving forward with a plan that would endanger the Democratic Party and at least six of our WIN-endorsed women.  The maps that were unveiled this past Friday manipulate the Voting Rights Act, maximize GOP voting performance at the expense of multi-racial coalitions and repeat the partisan mistakes of the past.

We will be meeting at the Capitol Wednesday (August 17th, 10am) morning to make our voices heard.

If you can make it, please plan to do the following:

  •  Meet Jonae Wartel, the organizer for the week’s events, along with our executive director Anna Beck and political director Jeff Romig on the steps of the Capitol on the Mitchell Street side at 9:40 a.m.
  • Show solidarity by wearing blue.
  • Plan to rally outside the Capitol before going inside to send messages and speak directly with key Legislators about FAIR districts and communities of interest. You will be provided all pertinent information for lobbying when you arrive.
  • Finally, invite as many friends as you can to join in, so we can make our voices heard!
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Week of Action, please do not hesitate to contact Jonae Wartel via phone or email- 404-656-5058 or jonae@gahousedems.com.
