Georgia WIN List is proud to endorse Tanya Miller for HD 62.

Tanya is an accomplished trial lawyer with an extensive background in advocacy and civil rights. She spent 8 years on the frontlines of public safety as a prosecutor in the Crimes Against Women and Children Unit and Homicide Unit at the Fulton DA’s office, fighting to get justice for victims of unspeakable tragedy. Her current practice specializes in criminal defense, civil rights, and police brutality cases. She holds a JD from Case Western Reserve University where she was inducted into the School of Law’s Hall of Fame in 2021. Tanya’s expertise as both a prosecutor and civil rights attorney has led to multiple appearances on CNN, HLN, and Court TV as a legal analyst.

Tanya has spent most of her career as a lawyer working in our criminal justice system. She has prosecuted crimes that victimized children left vulnerable by a system that slashes funds to their schools and ignores the need for wraparound services. She has held the hands of domestic violence victims as the GOP-led legislature removed one safeguard after another to keep guns away from their abusers. She has represented peaceful protestors in courts while Republicans attempted to criminalize citizens’ right to free speech and assembly. These individual stories are the direct result of state legislation, and as State Representative, she will ensure that equal justice and equal safety can be reality for every Georgian.

Tanya lives in Grant Park with her daughter. District 62 includes portions of Grant Park, Lakewood Heights, College Park, South Fulton, and East Point.

These issues are important to her campaign:

Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform- As a former prosecutor and current civil rights attorney, Tanya has witnessed up-close the devastation caused by violence and systemic inequality. She will fight for accountability in policing and policies that stem the tide of gun violence while decreasing the amount of people entangled in our criminal justice system.

Public Education and Wraparound Services- Tanya will fight to fully fund our public schools and provide services that allow our next generation to thrive. Mentorship programs, early detection of cognitive or behavioral issues, counseling, parental engagement and food support all play a vital role in ensuring at-risk children are given opportunities to rise above their circumstances.

Affordable and Accessible Healthcare- Tanya will fight to expand Medicaid, increase access to prenatal and postpartum healthcare, and ensure that Georgians who are incarcerated or on parole don’t continue to be left out of the discussion. She will be a strong advocate for abortion rights and use her legal background to fight against any and all efforts to block access to choice.
