Montenia Edwards

HD 64

Georgia WIN List is proud to endorse Montenia Edwards for House District 64.

Montenia Edwards was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Morris Brown College and a Master of Public Health from Saint Louis University’s School of Public Health.  She was one of a few selected for the Eliminating Health Disparities traineeship program, created by the US Surgeon General in 2001.  As a result of this opportunity, she was able to hone in on the many diseases which impact minority communities disproportionately and ways to educate the public on preventative measures.

Montenia works as a Clinical Researcher with more than 17 years of experience, within the Biopharmaceutical industry.  She has experience working on an array of diseases and is currently working on the frontline of COVID-19 by conducting clinical trials seeking to add to the scientific knowledge of this disease.

Montenia is highly engaged with healthcare issues that the average Georgia family faces.  Currently, there are 22% Georgians who lack insurance and have limited access to healthcare.  Thus, she has been advocating for expanding Medicaid.  In addition, she speaks at seminars on healthcare prevention within communities in Georgia and assist senior citizens with prescription coverage directly with pharmaceutical companies.

She is a member of multiple organizations where she volunteers at homeless shelters and food pantries.  Montenia CARES and her focus is SERVICE to others as she wants to improve the quality of living for residents in House District 64 and the people of Georgia as a whole.

Montenia is ‘In touch’ with the affairs our community and is the right person for the job.  She is passionate about taking a stand for Georgia families to include:

  • Fighting for voter’s rights and access to the ballot
  • Fighting for women’s reproductive rights
  • Fighting for the benefits Veterans deserve
  • Fighting for better access to healthcare
  • Creating policies to help small business owners stay in business
  • Improving safety awareness in communities and schools
