Continuing in our series highlighting our four new board members, meet Meg Smothers Robinson.
Meg currently serves as Chief of Staff and General Counsel to the Jason Carter Campaign Committee, Inc. In this role, she serves as primary advisor to State Senator Jason Carter with regard to policy analysis, legislative decision-making, and campaign events. Meg previously practiced law as an Assistant District Attorney in DeKalb County Juvenile Court where, in addition to prosecuting felony and misdemeanor offenses involving juvenile offenders, she oversaw DeKalb County’s Teen Court diversion program for first-time offenders.
Meg earned an undergraduate degree in Public Policy Analysis from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and attended law school at Georgia State University, where she graduated with highest distinction in pro bono service. Prior to law school, she worked as the Executive Director of the League of Women Voters of Georgia. She has been named to Georgia Trend Magazine’s “40 Under 40” list of emerging leaders in Georgia and is a member of the L.E.A.D. Atlanta Class of 2011. Meg serves on the executive board of Georgia Lawyers’ Chapter of the American Constitution Society and the Red Clay Democrats Board of Governors. She is a volunteer with the high school mock trial program, the League of Women Voters of DeKalb County, and the Junior League of Atlanta. Meg lives in Decatur with her husband, Jonathan.
