WLA Class of 2018

The WIN Leadership Academy is our flagship training program. It is a year-long program to develop future women leaders for Georgia.  Monthly Sunday meetings focus on leadership training, policy briefings and detailed instruction about the inner workings of running a political campaign for yourself or others. Specific topics include leadership, messaging, fundraising, volunteer management, press relations and voter turnout.  APPLICATION IS CLOSED

With 80 members in two groups, the 2017 WLA Class was the largest and most diverse in program history. Class member Deborah Gonzalez flipped an Athens area House seat during a November special election and WLA alumnae Jen Jordan flipped a Senate Seat during a December special election. A dozen 2017 class members a preparing to seek office in 2018.

  • The program is not limited to those who wish to run for the legislature as a variety of local elected positions put women on the path to state level service.
  • The WLA program features monthly classes taught by state and national experts, with each month’s topic having an accompanying reading or video assignments for preparation prior to the session. The group meets monthly in Atlanta. As we did in 2017, we hope to offer those class members in geographic clusters outside Atlanta the opportunity to participate electronically.
  • WLA is for all ages and recruitment for the 2018 class specifically targets women from each stage of life.
  • The goal for WLA is to train women not just to run for state and local offices, but also for leadership roles in campaigns and appointed positions which affect public policy such as state or local boards and commissions or judgeships.
