While Senator Jen Jordan (pronounced Jer-Dun) has not lived in her native south Georgia for more than 20 years, her small town background informs her simple approach to both the law and public service — help people when they need it the most.

Raised by a single mom who worked as a hairdresser, Jen learned first-hand the value of hard work and the importance of creating an economy which works for everyone. Public school teachers encouraged her to attend college, where she studied hard, worked minimum wage jobs and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law.

A passion for fairness lead Jen to become a lawyer who stands up for those whom the system has failed. She specializes in complex civil cases and has consistently been recognized among both the top 100 attorneys in the state and the top 50 women attorneys.

In 2015, she brought suit against then Secretary of State Brian Kemp after uncovering an unprecedented data breach where personal information for all — more than 6 million — Georgia voters was unlawfully distributed. Her lawsuit pushed Kemp to give required legal notice to all victims of the breach and offer credit repair insurance. Under a previous Secretary of State, Karen Handel, she fought efforts to suppress the rights of Georgia voters.

She is a member of the Leadership Georgia Class of 2008, a past President of  UGA’s Law School Association Council and a Master with the Joseph Henry Lumpkin American Inn of Court. She serves on the Board of Governors for the State Bar of Georgia and has been named a “Super Lawyer” and one of Georgia Trend’sLegal Elite.

Sen. Jordan has been named to three prestigious “40 Under 40” lists: Georgia Trend Magazine’s list recognizing Georgia’s future leaders for commercial, cultural, academic and governmental institutions; UGA’s list honoring alumni who have “made an impact in business, leadership, community, educational and/or philanthropic endeavors;” and the Fulton County Daily Report’s 2014 list of Rising Stars.

Since her election removed the GOP’s “Senate Supermajority” in 2017, Sen. Jordan has been an advocate for fully funding the state’s public education system for the first time in more than a decade and passing a transit bill which provides a path for the 13-county metro Atlanta region to tackle growing traffic issues. She works hard to reach consensus where it made sense and fights hard against extremism when our values – and the safety of our children – are at stake. She has been a strong advocate for reproductive freedom and the safety of citizens in her district who lived near a plant which emitted toxic fumes.
