Rep. Betsy Holland
HD 54
Rep. Betsy Holland was first elected to office in 2018 representing House District 54 in Fulton County which includes portions of Buckead and south Sandy Springs. During her service in the Georgia General Assembly, she has fought to protect the rights of vulnerable Georgians, to protect women’s bodily autonomy, to expand healthcare access, to reduce gun violence, and to expand resources for our public schools and our teachers.
Rep. Holland serves on the Higher Education Committee, where she is keenly interested in making Georgia’s colleges more affordable and attracting more students to degrees that match high demand careers in Georgia. She also serves on the Small Business Development Committee, the House Committee on Intragovernmental Coordination and the House Committee on Creative Arts & Entertainment, a particularly good fit for someone who spent most of her career working in the entertainment industry.
Rep. Holland currently chairs the House Atlanta Delegation and values building a strong relationship between the City of Atlanta and state government. This role was critical when she worked with a coalition of partners in 2022 and 2023 to defeat legislation that would have annexed an existing portion of Atlanta to create a City of Buckhead City. Moving forward, the city and state are partnering to address issues of affordable housing, unsheltered Atlantans, public safety and noise reduction.
Rep. Holland lives in the Buckhead community with her husband Jason, son Alex, and rescue dog, Bader (named for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg). For more than 25 years, she worked in the corporate sector focusing on corporate responsibility, philanthropy, corporate culture and nonprofit partnerships. She has served on boards of community and civic organizations, including the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Atlanta Community ToolBank and Fugees Family, a nonprofit dedicated to serving child survivors of war. Most Sundays, you can find her worshipping at Morningside Presbyterian Church, where she leads a women’s small group, occasionally teaches Sunday school and has been ordained as a deacon.
