Georgia WIN List is proud to endorse Nakita Hemingway for House District 104, which includes Dacula and the surrounding portions of Gwinnett County.

A Georgia native, Nakita is an entrepreneur, farmer, and small business owner who attended Georgia State University where she studied Real Estate and American Intercontinental University, where she received a degree in Finance. A mother of four, she is married to Jonathan Hemingway and resides in Dacula.

A difficult childhood reminds Nakita of the importance of supporting women in business, education and life to help them thrive, become leaders, and be the best version of themselves.

Nakita is passionate about her district and the issues facing its residents. These issues are important to her campaign:

EDUCATION — I believe in building the child from the inside out so that we produce leaders, innovators and world changers. I support teachers and believe our education system should work equally for all. I will work with anyone who is committed to ensuring education is affordable and obtainable.

AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE – Georgia’s healthcare system must be affordable and accessible which includes expanding Medicaid and passing legislation to make prescription drugs more affordable. I support funding for rural hospitals who are feeling the crunch of this administration’s assault on the Affordable Care Act and Medicare.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING — Our government has a duty to ensure every citizen has a place to call home and must solve our affordable housing crisis.

AGRICULTURE/ENVIRONMENT/LAND USE RIGHTS — Recent crises and global warming have demonstrated the need for diversified farming interests, including urban farms which need better protection.  Nakita believes minority farmers are underrepresented and have been historically discriminated against.  As a minority who attempted to open a flower farm on her own land, Nakita saw first-hand the many challenges small-operators face.

DIVERSITY IN GOVERNMENT — Georgia is a diverse state and Gwinnett is its most diverse county. Our leadership should reflect and understand the people it serves which is why I am committed to fair government practices which do not discriminate and support equality in hiring decisions and policies. We are stronger together, and we should have a government which reflects this desire for unity and equal representation.

ECONOMIC GROWTH & SMALL BUSINESS REFORM — As an entrepreneur and a small business owner, I know first-hand government should help businesses succeed and not stand in the way. Our government must do what it can to attract business and foster growth by freeing up regulations on micro-businesses and enacting innovative policies which sustain real growth.

TRANSPORTATION — I am committed to expanding public transportation to serve our community. Better transit options reduce time spent cars and away from family and loved ones and also provides greater connectivity to the Atlanta region and economic opportunities for all.
