Leigh Miller

A Georgia native and graduate of Brookwood High in Snellville, Leigh Miller and her husband Eric chose Flowery Branch as the perfect place to raise their three children because it replicated the small town feel and family friendly sense of community she experienced as a child.

She hopes to FLIP a seat which has been in Republican control since 2008 by defeating Emory “Bubba” Dunahoo Jr. who has served since 2011. While WIN List was founded to give women a supportive network of donors and volunteers, a victory for Leigh would be the first time a WIN List endorsed candidate defeats a man who actually uses “Bubba” as a nickname.

A cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia, she received her law degree from Emory University and worked for seven years with an Atlanta law firm specializing in civil litigation before taking a break to focus on children community activities and some legal work for a family owned business Yonah Mountain Vineyards in Cleveland which is managed by her husband.

A member of the current WIN Leadership Academy class Leigh is a vice chair of the Hall County Democratic Committee and has worked with Georgia Equality Voter registration drives. She worked with the congressional campaign of Josh McCall in 2018 coordinating a series of eight town hall meetings over the 21 county district.
House District 30 runs along the I-985 corridor between Buford and Gainsville and the area is rapidly growing with more than 18,000 newly registered voters during the past three years. “I am a fresh face who reflects the changing community and its future possibilities” she said.

Because one of her three daughters has type one diabetes, she knows first hand the challenges families face when insulin is $500 a vial. “As an attorney I fought for clients whose health insurance companies insurance companies wrongly denied their claims for chemotherapy treatments” Leigh said. “As an elected official I will continue these fights to protect Georgia families We need people in the legislature fighting for caps on insulin to expand Medicaid to fully fund our schools and to work for solutions on which childcare costs and maternity leave policies keep women out of the workforce. I am ready to be our voice at the Capitol.”

The family attends Central Presbyterian Church in Gainesville. Leigh volunteers with the public elementary school PTO where her children attend and with the Georgia Mountain Food Bank. She enjoys reading Harry Potter books to the children Kenzie Haven and Lyra who range in age from six to ten. Adopted pups John Lemon and Jon Snow complete the energetic household.
