Rep. Lydia Glaize

HD 67

Lydia Glaize, a former educator and esteemed community leader, serves with distinction as the House Representative for Georgia’s 67th House District. Representative Glaize’s unwavering commitment to education, community outreach, and sustainable solutions has positioned her as an influential figure, particularly in the areas of youth, education, and seniors.

Representative Glaize was appointed as the Education Chair for the General Assembly in the Fulton County Delegation and Education Chair of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, where she had a significant and transformative influence on the educational landscape in the state. Through active participation in pivotal bills and committee votes, she has championed initiatives to access higher education in high demand careers, address mental health concerns, and promote workforce and economic development. Notable among her accomplishments are her contributions to HB 538, HB 668 and HB 527, bills aimed at improving education quality in Georgia.  She also co-sponsored HB 378, which takes significant strides towards tackling mental health challenges in schools. Recently, Rep. Glaize was selected for the Center for the Advancement of Leadership Skills Class of 2023 through the Council of State Governments Southern Office.

In addition to her current role as a House Representative, Lydia Glaize has made significant contributions as an elected official in the City of Fairburn. She led efforts to expand voter precincts, secure much-needed home repairs for veterans and seniors, and strongly advocated for the city’s Tree Bank and Recreation Department, resulting in Duncan Parks’ new pool as the crown jewel. These successes demonstrate her unwavering commitment to the community. Moreover, her dedication to Workforce Development and College and Career Guidance has had a monumental impact for Georgia’s students. Her approach matches students with pathways to college and careers including Military Academies, colleges, career choices and apprenticeship programs.

During the summer of 2023 she developed and championed a summer reading rewards pilot program.  Two of the lower performing schools in the county (Liberty Point and Palmetto Elementary) participated and ended up being ranked the top 1 and 2 summer reading programs in Fulton County.  This achievement was a testament to her tireless support and advocacy for the children of Fulton County.

Representative Glaize was also invited this summer, as one of 41 State Legislators, to participate in a round table discussion at the White House on affordable, high quality childcare as well as pay equity for workers and subsidies for their employers. She shared her passion that child care workers deserve to earn a decent wage and essential benefits such as paid sick leave, healthcare and retirement plans. Rep. Glaize was honored to represent our state at this prestigious meeting.

As a true champion for her House District, Lydia Glaize continues to tirelessly work towards lasting change, ensuring that supports are in place for residents of Georgia’s 67th House District and residents have the opportunity to thrive. With her visionary leadership, there is no doubt that Representative Glaize will continue to have a profound impact on the lives of countless Georgians.
