As a WIN List endorsed candidate, Madeline is legally blind and is also the only disabled house candidate in the state of Georgia.
Madeline is a native Georgian, born in Savannah. Madeline was adopted by her parents, along with her older brother. Raised in a politically and religiously diverse family, Madeline was taught the value of honesty, communication, responsibility and above all, respect and love for fellow humans.
Motivated for practical change in our world, Madeline Ryan Smith has set her standards high, and will not stop fighting until we have become a state which can lead by example into 2023. For Madeline, running for this office means a chance for change, for growth, and to bring new life into rural Georgia. Through supporting public education, family farms and expanding healthcare, House District 158 can count on Madeline to give a voice to rural Georgia in the Gold Dome, and ensure all of her community members have opportunities for success and prosperity.
Madeline is the youngest of our 59 endorsed candidates for 2022, having graduated with a Bachelor’s of Psychology from Georgia Southern University in 2020 and a Master’s in Social Science in 2022. By the end of her Master’s program, Madeline got involved with local campaigns, and non-profit groups like The People’s Agenda, and attended as many rallies and marches as she could. From Washington, DC to Brunswick, GA, Madeline has been vocal in her activism for a more equal Georgia.
Today, Madeline is motivated to fight for innovation and progress for all Georgians. Her platform focuses for District 158 include Agriculture, Education, and Healthcare.
