Denied access to a podium inside Georgia’s Capitol, today Georgia WIN List relies upon a video press conference to announce the endorsement of Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms for Governor and 15 more women for legislative seats currently held by Republican men.

“We are thrilled by Wednesday’s Republican announcement they will not use the current special legislative session to further gerrymander Congressional and legislative maps,” said Georgia WIN List Chairwoman former Rep. CaMia Jackson. “With 15 new  legislative endorsements and an additional 16 candidates endorsed earlier in the year, we are ready to FLIP a record setting number of legislative seats November 3.”

Republicans demonstrated they understood the strong message from Georgians who called, wrote, and protested to express their opposition to even more Georgia gerrymandering, she said. “Now, it is time to deliver an even more powerful message about protecting Democracy and minority voting power by FLIPping seats and electing a Democratic governor in November,” she said.

“FLIPping seats in record setting numbers will be a message the Georgia GOP can’t ignore,” she said. “Our candidates have knocked doors and listened to voters across every part of Georgia.  Citizens are fed up following two decades of Republican control and policies. Georgians are ready to vote for the hope and change our women candidates offer in November.”

WIN List has endorsed Mayor Bottoms, Rep. Tanya Miller for Attorney General, and Judge Penny Brown Reynolds for Secretary of State as well as eight women for Senate seats and 23 women for House seats, the majority of them first-time candidates. These women will be on the November ballot alongside 41 currently serving legislators seeking re-election.

“I am thankful to have the support of Georgia WIN List. They have been instrumental in supporting and electing candidates who understand the issues that Georgia families are facing. We need to elect leaders up and down the ballot who will put Georgians first and work to bring down costs, expand Medicaid, and invest in our children’s education. I look forward to working alongside all of these candidates to deliver for Georgians as governor,” said Mayor Bottoms.
