Rep. Saira Draper

Rep. Saira Draper

HD 90

Saira Draper is a civil rights attorney, voting rights expert, and the State Representative for Georgia’s House District 90, which encompasses portions of Atlanta and unincorporated DeKalb County.

Being an advocate for others, especially for marginalized populations, has been a calling for Representative Draper throughout her life and career.  During the 2020 election, she led the voting rights effort for the campaign of President Biden in Georgia, and the 2021 runoff elections of Senators Warnock and Ossoff. Under her leadership, over 15,000 volunteers were trained and engaged in critical voter protection efforts across the state, ensuring that Georgians could vote and that their votes counted. In 2022, her work exposed the suspension of (and led to the reinstatement of) Georgia’s automatic voter registration system. As a civil rights attorney, Representative Draper has championed the rights of vulnerable and detained immigrants. While working at the SPLC, she represented a national class of immigrant children who suffered prolonged separation from their families at the hands of the U.S. government. Currently, Representative Draper helps run two entities she co-founded that support voting rights and Democracy protection in battleground states.

Before her work in public service and politics, Rep. Draper was an associate attorney for an international law firm where she helped clients navigate complex governmental and internal investigations and handled commercial litigation matters.

Rep. Draper is a graduate of Georgetown Law, the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a former Peace Corps volunteer. She and her husband have three wonderful kids, ages 8, 5, and 2 and live in Atlanta.
