WIN List Endorsed Attorney General Candidate Tanya Miller will receive the 2026 EMILY’s List 2026 Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award, placing her achievements and campaign to be Georgia’s first Black woman Attorney General squarely in the National spotlight.

The award, presented by the national Political Action Committee which WIN List founders used as a model when establishing a Georgia WIN List as a state-based PAC 26 years ago, was announced on Wednesday and immediately received national media attention.

“Tanya Miller is a fearless fighter, who has spent her career delivering real change for Georgians. From fighting back against Republicans’ assault on Georgians’ rights in the state legislature, to making neighborhoods safer as district attorney, Tanya is the exact type of leader our party needs in the fight ahead,” EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler said“Tanya Miller’s political future burns bright.”

Rep. Miller currently represents HD 62 in Fulton County and chairs the House Democratic Caucus. She was raised by a proud union member mother and learned hard work and perseverance from an early age with a paper route at nine. She worked her way through school, balancing jobs and motherhood and excelling as notes editor of the Law Review at Case Western Reserve School of Law.

The Gabrielle Giffords award annually recognizes “an outstanding woman serving in state or local office, who embodies the determination, civility, and commitment to community that characterized former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ career in and out of office,” according to the EMILY’s List press release announcing the honor. Two Georgia women are previous recipients of the distinguished award: former House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams in 2014 and former Rep. Bee Nguyen in 2022.

There were opportunities for on-line voting as a component of the discernment process for the award.  Members of the Georgia WIN List network had the opportunity to cast votes following an e-blast on March 24. “Thanks to WIN List for helping to push us over the finish line,” Miller said on Wednesday evening. “Gabby Giffords called me today and I totally fanned out! She said, ‘Strong women get stuff done.’”

The Georgia WIN List network of WINning Women advocates, candidates, legislators, and donors has worked to Change the Face of Power in Georgia politics for 26 years by helping elect more than 105 women, 50 of whom currently serve. As we gear up to elect a record setting number of women in 2026, we must also raise record setting sums.

Please consider a generous gift to support WIN List efforts to recruit, train, endorse, elect and re-elect candidates who will be effective advocates for the issues most important to Georgia’s women and families, including preservation of reproductive freedom. Consider your gift an investment in a better future for the next generation of girls and young women you hold dear.
