In the past two days, two Georgia congressmen have escalated the war on women.
Rep. Paul Broun refused to vote for his own bill that was nearly identical to the legislation passed by the Georgia General Assembly banning abortions after 20 weeks because it wasn’t tough enough.
Then today, Rep. Phil Gingrey is promoting the teaching of gender stereotypes in elementary schools. He wants public schools to teach women to “stay in their place.”
While Gingrey is right that each parent brings different strengths to a family, his suggestion that only opposite-sex couples can bring complementary skills is nearly as archaic as his view that children should be taught to conform to his outdated view of gender roles.
