18 Years in the Making, Georgia’s WIN List Celebrates Year of Women in Georgia

On Tuesday, September 25, 2018, Georgia’s WIN List hosted our biggest event of the year – our “Stand With WINning Women” Candidate Rally and fundraiser celebrating the historic women nominees for Governor and Lt. Governor, the three women running for constitutional statewide seats, and the record-setting numbers of women legislative candidates.

In addition to celebrating our record-setting slate of 36 endorsed women, we also celebrated the Year of Women in Georgia. The rally fulfilled the dreams of our founders who set a goal to change the face of power in Georgia over 18 years ago.

The rally featured speeches by most of the women on the statewide ticket and several of the WIN List endorsed women seeking legislative seats:

• Joyce Barlow, HD 151
• Senator Jen Jordan, SD 6
• Dawn Randolph, Public Service Commissioner D-5
• Janice Laws, Insurance Commissioner
• Sarah Riggs Amico, Lieutenant Governor

Following the speeches, we honored our 36 endorsed women by presenting them with more than $61,000 in endorsement checks. These contributions brought the total for 2018 to more than $90,000 – three times more than we’ve ever given to candidates during an election cycle.

All candidates had tables for literature, yard signs, and volunteer sign-up sheets during the event. Guests who attended had the opportunity to meet candidates and decide which women they are willing to support by making calls, writing postcards, and knocking on doors.

With nearly 300 guests, the energy and excitement in the room were palpable. Many guests commented they could almost feel the earth shifting and the tides turning during the evening. The overwhelming show of support and the WIN sisterhood camaraderie re-energized candidates who now face 35 more days of campaigning. 

Our WINning women are committed now more than ever to becoming the change they want to see in the world. We BELIEVE they will change the face of power in Georgia when they WIN in November.
